Christian formation, the process of assisting people of all ages to shape and live Christ-like lives, is a high priority for the St. Anne’s Community.
Sunday school classes are regularly offered for young persons ages 4 through high school. Conventional Episcopal curricular materials are used. The Sunday School year begins the Sunday after Labor Day and continues through the Sunday after Pentecost Sunday. Classes begin at the regular worship time (normally 9:30 a.m.), with young persons and teachers joining the worship service in time for Communion. Believing that worship is at the heart of Episcopal spirituality, classes are conducted every other Sunday. On alternate Sundays, young people and teachers are in church for the entire service. This allows younger members to have the opportunity to experience the richness and power of the entire worship service. A nursery is provided for children age 6 and younger on Sundays without Sunday School. St. Anne’s regularly shares in an ecumenical Vacation Bible School with other small churches in the Appomattox area. Dates and times will be posted in the web pages.
Wednesday 7:30 - Adult Bible Study Adult study is normally based on the lectionary for the following Sunday. Seasonal studies (e.g., Advent, Lent) are occasionally offered. Study is designed to be “experiential” (“What do these lessons mean for my life as a Christian?”) and is led by the rector or other group members. A study of Exodus is being completed at this time. |
